There is a coastal walk between Kiama and Gerringong on the NSW South Coast where the views over the wide rock shelves towards the horizon are panoramic.

As I set up the tripod and camera, I saw a man, alone in this vista, walk towards the very edge. He was in a place where you had to wonder how he got there. I watched him move along the edge, hoping he would stop at some point. My exposure was set to 30 seconds, so he needed to stay in one place for nearly that long.

The photography gods were smiling that afternoon.
